ADOPT A SISTER
Adopt a Sister is a tangible and beautiful way to help uplift and strengthen our mothers, daughters, friends, and sisters who have undergone mastectomy surgery.
One of the possible courses of treatment for breast cancer is a mastectomy surgery: the surgical removal of breast tissue or breasts. As one can imagine, such a surgery, though potentially lifesaving, can be traumatic and emotionally taxing for breast cancer survivors. After mastectomy surgery, breast cancer survivors can receive post-operative reconstructive breast surgery, but such surgery is physically, emotionally, and financially draining, and out of reach for some survivors. Adopt a Sister is an initiative developed to address this need, by providing breast prostheses to women that have had mastectomy surgery following a breast cancer diagnosis.
Adopt a Sister’s mission is simple: to uplift women who have survived the ordeal that is breast cancer. Mastectomy due to breast cancer has been shown to negatively impact the emotional well-being of our valiant survivors. When a woman loses her breast(s) to cancer, she may lose her self-esteem, struggle with her self-worth and personal concept of her beauty, and may think she is no longer worthy of love and attention. Providing our survivors with breast prostheses is a small but unbelievably meaningful way to lift their spirits.
Breast prostheses are an artificial breast form which replace the shape of all, or part, of the breast tissue that has been removed as part of a mastectomy surgery. Breast prostheses fit in a bra cup with or without a bra pocket.
Adopt a Sister’s target population is women living in under-served communities in the United States and in Africa, who are not able to have breast reconstruction following mastectomy and cannot afford breast prostheses.
A complete set of breast prostheses would comprise a bra with a bra cup, and the breast form (prosthetic breast).
With $200, we can provide a complete set of breast prostheses (bra with a bra cup, and breast forms) to one recipient. Your donation will be tax deductible. So, please join us! Help us provide breast prostheses to these very deserving women by adopting a “sister”!

TESTIMONIALS

"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to you, for your kind gesture to me. I thank you in a special way for your generous donation of the prosthesis and durable braziers for my use. I feel very comfortable with it than when I was using the foam cushion to balance my chest. It makes me presentable in public as a woman. As you know, it's embarrassing with the situation of one mastectomy. May Almighty God bless you abundantly with good health and all your heart's desire. And may many emulate your generous heart, to come to help other women with the same conditions.
Kindly extend my regards to your family and colleagues for their cooperation. Thank you once again."

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for this great support you have given me. I couldn't express my joy upon receiving my prosthesis and braziers on the 8th of August, 2020. I never had one since my mastectomy and so I was always unbalanced but when I receive this gift and wore it, I felt balanced and comfortable like a woman again. I am indeed grateful to you for your generous support that brought smiles to my face. May the good lord bless you and continue to use you to reach out to needy people in the world."
